Description
The Yanmar 121857-55710 is a genuine OEM spin-on fuel filter for Yanmar 4LH and 4LHA series marine diesel engines. It removes water and fine particulate from the fuel before it reaches the injection pump and injectors.
Water is the enemy
Diesel injection equipment is lubricated by the fuel passing through it. Water breaks that lubrication down and corrodes the precision surfaces inside the pump and injectors, and it arrives in the tank from condensation and from poor quality fuel taken on in unfamiliar places. Changing the fuel filter on schedule is far cheaper than an injection pump overhaul.
Fitting
Replace at the interval in your Yanmar operator’s manual. Lightly oil the new sealing ring before fitting, hand tighten until the gasket seats, then tighten the additional amount specified in the manual. Bleed the fuel system following the procedure for your engine, then run it and check for leaks and for air in the system.
