Description
The Yanmar 129150-35170 is a genuine OEM spin-on lube oil filter fitted across a wide range of Yanmar diesel engines, including the marine 4JH series and the 3TNV, 4TNV and 4TNE industrial families. Because it is the factory part rather than an aftermarket copy, it is built to Yanmar’s own filtration and bypass specifications for these engines.
Why the correct filter matters
Marine diesels work hard in a punishing environment: sustained high load, salt air, and long hours between services. The oil filter is the only thing standing between combustion soot and metallic wear particles and your bearings, journals and turbocharger. Fitting the OEM filter means the bypass valve opens at the pressure Yanmar designed for, so oil keeps flowing on a cold start instead of starving the engine or pushing unfiltered oil through the galleries.
Supersession
This part number replaces the earlier 129150-35153 and 129150-35153-12. If your manual or a previous invoice lists either of those, 129150-35170 is the current replacement.
Fitting and servicing
Replace the oil filter at every oil change, following the service interval in the Yanmar operator’s manual for your engine and duty cycle. Lightly oil the new gasket before fitting, hand tighten until the gasket seats, then tighten the additional amount specified in your manual. Do not over tighten. Run the engine, check for leaks, then re-check the oil level once it has settled.
